Authentic Writing and Resiliency in Your Life

Facilitated by Karen MacDonald and Cathy Perrotta

This workshop is designed to empower women through story-telling in their own lives. This is not a workshop for people who are writers—it uses writing to demonstrate resilience. Women will have an opportunity to access their own stories, write them down (or at least begin to write) and share them with others in the workshop. Sharing will be verbal and written.

There will be a warm-up activity to help participants tap into their own stories and become familiar with the other workshop participants. Participants will be guided to write down their own stories through a series of relevant questions that will help them focus their own authentic journeys. This is not about perfect writing but about telling and sharing stories of hardship, courage and resiliency.

By the end of the session, you will be able to recognize your own strengths in the face of adversity and be able to better apply them in the future. We hope by attending this workshop that you may wish to continue writing, journaling or blogging and attend future sessions with us. At the very least, you will gain insight into your own authentic stories.
